Hollywood's Hottest Geeks

With the huge success of movies like Superbad and TV shows like "The Big Bang Theory," geeks and nerds are having their revenge and ruling pop culture. Here's the list of Hollywood's hottest geeked-out hunks and some may surprise you.

1. James Franco
This first geek sets the bar incredibly high. He played a burnout in the 1999 series "Freaks and Geeks," drug dealer Saul in Pineapple Express and he's best buds with Seth Rogan and Judd Apatow. Those qualities alone make it hard to believe this handsome and hilarious hunk simultaneously attended Columbia University's MFA writing program, NYU's Tisch School of the Arts for filmmaking and Brooklyn College for fiction writing. As if that wasn't enough, he also enrolled in Yale's Ph.D. program in English and the Rhode Island School of Design's digital-media master's program. There's really not much more for this man to do...he's a successful actor, producer, writer, director, philanthropist, scholar, author...need we say more? 2. Andrew Garfield
The latest Peter Parker aka Spider Man, made us sit up and take notice! Although the British actor has been in the biz since 2005, Andrew broke out in "The Social Network," playing the co-founder of Facebook, alongside fellow geek, Jesse Eisenburg. Since then, he has captured our attention as the high-flying, spandex clad Spider Man. He'll play Peter Parker in the sequel, The Amazing Spider Man 2, due out May 2014. One thing is for sure, Emma Stone is one lucky lady.

3. Joseph Gordon-Levitt
Let's not forget that this heartthrob and star of the upcoming comedy Don Jon was once a bumbling, hopeless in love, long haired nerd in "3rd Rock from the Sun" and 10 Things I Hate About You. After an eight year stint away from the spotlight, Joseph appeared in hit after hit beginning with 500 Days of Summer. Then came Inception and The Dark Knight Rises. With his array of roles, Joseph has proved he's poised to be a leading man and has the chops to take on any genre. To cap off his stellar year, he was runner up for People's Sexiest Man Alive to super-stud Channing Tatum. Be sure to catch him in the sexy fall comedy Don Jon, hitting theaters September 27th. 4. Nicholas Hoult
Keep your eye on this comic book cutie, ladies! He caught our eye in X-Men: First Class as Beast and will return for the sequel X-Men: Days of Future Past, due out in May 2014. He also starred in Warm Bodies and Jack the Giant Slayer. This British babe has lots of projects coming up so keep your eyes and hears peeled for his irresistible looks and accent!

7. Zach Braff
The Garden State creator made being a geek cool wayyy before the recent wave of nerd nostalgia. Who didn't have a crush on his adorable J.D. from "Scrubs"? Mega plus, he's is a multitalented actor, producer, director and comedian. What's not to love?

6. John Krasinski
The witty, grinning wise guy from "The Office," jumped right into our hearts from the first episode. The Brown University grad proves he's more than just a handsome hunk. He's kept busy appearing in movies like Something Borrowed and It's Complicated. Even though The Office closed it's doors, something tells us, we'll be seeing a lot more of this charismatic comedian. 5. Andy Samberg
Ask ladies what they like most in a man and 9 out of 10 will say he needs to be able to make them laugh. When it comes to Andy Samberg, this is not a problem. One third of the group, The Lonely Island and co-mastermind behind SNL digital shorts like "Lazy Sunday," "Dick in a Box" and "Laser Cats," Andy has no shortage of imagination and isn't afraid to make a fool of himself. While he took his leave from SNL, he just launched a new comedy series on Fox called "Brooklyn Nine-Nine." Check it out on Fox Tuesdays at 6:30 MST. Photo credit: Flickr by David Shankbone

8. Elijah Wood
Who could take the impossible task of making hobbits seem attractive if not Mr. Frodo Baggins himself? While he's known for the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Elijah Wood has played a wide variety of characters and even showcases his knack for comedy through the FX series "Wilfred." Whatever role he plays, we can't resist those baby blues. photo credit: Stefan Servos

9. Jesse Eisenburg
This fast-talking, awkward, socially unaware stud hit it big with The Social Network, but has since been shedding his geeky persona. He recently played a pretentious, lady slaying magician in Now You See Me. Next up for the evolving geek? Playing his own twin in The Double, which premieres at the Toronto Film Festival September 20th. Watch the trailer here

10. Rupert Grint
Any list would be incomplete without a token ginger. Rupert Grint grew to worldwide stardom on the shoulders of his character Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter series. He is staying busy with a steady list of voice-over work, television movies and movies. He recently played rocker Cheetah Chrome in CBGB, a movie about the legendary rock and roll nightclub in New York City. Photo credit:
