Rhiannon

At 15, Rhiannon had just made the cheerleading squad at her high school in Monte Vista. During her sports physical, doctors discovered small red spots on her arm, called petechiae, which turned out to be symptoms of a more serious condition.

In April 2017, she was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS), a type of bone marrow cancer. After chemotherapy, a failed bone marrow transplant, damage to her liver from chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant, she now shows no signs of the cancer in her body. One day, she hopes to be an oncology nurse and work with children.

After battling cancer for two years, Rhiannon lives in the moment and doesn’t take a single day for granted.
