In 1995, 20-year-old Jason Kotas was a college basketball player in Virginia when doctors found a softball-sized tumor behind his lung. He flew to Denver to be with his family. Although he was a young adult, he chose Children’s Colorado for treatment because he “always felt like a big kid.” They removed three ribs and part of a lung. He received radiation and chemotherapy for one year. Fifteen years later, Jason is still cancer free but back at Children’s Colorado as the EMS Outreach and Education Program Manager. His wife, Emily, works Children’s Hospital Colorado Foundation. The two are madly in love and have a son, Sam.

Children’s Colorado will forever be a part of their lives.
