Slacker and Steve - OPP: Teenage Antidepressants (Audio)

October 12, 2016

Today’s OPP is from Anne and she needs your help! She has noticed that her daughter has been down in the dumps lately. Her daughter refuses to communicate with her or her father, she doesn’t want to see her friends, mopes around all day, and sits on the computer. Anne has tried to get her daughter moving by attempting to enroll her into a dance class in hopes of getting her daughter’s endorphins moving, but that plan was shot down. She mentioned her daughter’s depression to her pediatrician and he recommended trying an antidepressant, however she thinks her daughter may be too young to take that type of medication. Anne wants antidepressants to be her last resort when it comes to improving her daughter’s mood. She hates seeing her sad and is at a breaking point. Anne needs a solution.

What can Anne do without using antidepressants to improve her daughter’s well-being?

Slacker and Steve - OPP: Teenage Antidepressants 10/12

Anne has been noticing that her teenage daughter has been down in the dumps lately. Some have suggested that her daughter should try taking an anti-depressant. However, Anne is concerned that she may be too young to be on that type of medication, but on the other hand she doesn't want to see her daughter struggle. Are their any other solutions to fix her daughter's depression?
