Students at the Community School of Davidson had a celebrity encounter on the playground Friday afternoon. Panthers quarterback Cam Newton was driving by the school while filming for a show when he noticed a student wearing his jersey on the playground, Channel 9 first reported Saturday morning. Mimi Siadak, a seventh-grade teacher, said Newton asked the teachers for permission and then hopped the fence to toss a football. “The students just herded all around him. I still can’t believe he did that,” Siadak said. Newton also posed for a “dabbing” photo with the awestruck students and got the group to heckle one of their teachers wearing a Steelers lanyard.   “I saw one girl crying and hyperventilating and when I asked, ‘Honey what’s wrong?’ she said, ‘That was just the best moment of my life,’” Siadak said. Siadak said it took some time to redirect her students’ attention toward class after the surprise visit. “The kids were having the hardest time coming down, and I was having the hardest time too, because I was so excited,” Siadak said.

Returning to his downtown Denver hotel after the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Colorado Rockies, he surprised attendees at the Chatfield Senior High School prom. He took photos with party goers and posted some to his Twitter account, @YasielPuig. One of the photos was with members of the Chatfield baseball team. The school is located near Littleton, Colorado. Another photo, with a large number of students, contained a message in Spanish that translates to, "After we won, I came to surprise some students at their prom dance." So did he actually dance? Somebody asked Puig before he went out for conditioning drills Sunday morning, and he said, "Yes," with a crooked smile. Puig has had an amusing presence on Twitter this season, one that seems to coincide with his free-and-easy approach to the year so far. His posts have been both humorous and self-deprecating, mentioning multiple times his issue with hitting the cutoff man. After his eye-opening throw from right field Friday to nail the Rockies' Trevor Story at third base, Puig hit the sarcasm button the following day.

Steven Tyler showed just how good of a guy a rock star can be. The story started when Anthony Yorfido couldn't get tickets for a concert Tyler was putting on in Niagara Falls. Yorfido, who has Down syndrome, just happened to be stopping at a medical supply store when a limo pulled up outside. Who got out of the car? None other than Tyler himself. It was a chance encounter. Yorfido was with his mother picking up supplies, and Tyler was there to pick up a back brace, Yorfido's mother Diane told CTV News. Yorfido was excited, but managed to compose himself. "I just (stood) there for a second and I said, 'Steven Tyler?' He turned around, came to see me and gave me a big hug," Yorfido told CTV News. After the hug ended, he told Tyler that he wanted to see him in concert, but that he couldn't get a ticket. Tyler told his biggest fan that he'd make it happen.  And he did. Yorfido got to see the sold-out show and had backstage passes. But the biggest thrill for Yorfido was being called up on stage to play maracas during "Sweet Emotion."
