LISTEN: Miley Cyrus Releases "Summery" Hit 'Malibu'

Miley Cyrus is back, and she's taken us right to the beach today.

Cyrus released a new single, "Malibu" at noon ET on Thursday (May 11). The track is the lead single from her upcoming (currently untitled) album, which is due out at some point later this year.

Today's release is not the "twerking, party-anthem" that we've heard in songs like "Party in the USA." Miley told Billboard that she's giving the world a hug on this record.

The video features Miley dancing on the beach, playing with balloons, walking with her beloved dog, and of course, showing off her engagement ring. We can assume that today's release is an ode to her rekindled romance with her fiancé, Liam Hemsworth

"Malibu" was actually written in the back of an Uber while the 24-year-old was headed to a taping of the hit NBC show "The Voice." She told Billboard earlier this month that she was actually trying to sing the song quietly because someone else was in the car.

Miley's dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, has called the song the "most honest" track we've heard from the 24-year-old singer/songwriter yet.

Liam Hemsworth, by the way, took the photo for "Malibu's" cover art.
