Coming Out
Yi!

This story is such a happy one.  A 15 year old girl wanted to come out to her parents and thought that baking them a cake would help the blow.  She made the cake and wrote “I’m gay” with the icing.  She also wrote a letter and set it next to the cake which had plenty of sweet puns in it.  This story has since went viral and is hopefully helping plenty of other people with their coming out journey.

Slacker was a part of one coming out story many years ago.  He had an employee that he says everyone had already assumed was gay.  He did plenty of feminine things and never talked about girls or anything that would lead them to believe he was straight.  One day the employee came to him and asked if he could talk to him.  Slacker freaked because the kid was such a great employee and he thought he was about to quit.  So when he told him he was gay Slacker’s reaction was less than shocked.  He still feels bad to this day because he was pretty much thinking, “well duh” but never had a problem with it.

Do you have a coming out story that you’ll share with us?

I have plenty of friends that are gay and I can’t imagine them any other way than who they are.  But I know that each of them has a story for how they got to where they are now.  Now I’m curious to ask them.  I wish everyone that has dealt with this the best of luck, and hope that you all find the strength to do what your heart desires.

Wouldn't Believe Me If I Told Ya!
Yi!

A family in Brazil was cleaning out a room in their house recently when they found their pet tortoise that they thought escaped…30 years earlier!  They took it to the vet and were told it is healthy and probably survived on termites and condensation.  They are very excited to have the pet tortoise back.  True story, but pretty unbelievable.

Slacker and Steve do this topic every couple months and there are always people that don’t get through to share their story.  Here is your chance! They want you to blow them away with your “wouldn’t believe me if I told ya” stories.  Whether it’s a near death experience, a long lost family member, or record you’ve set, bring it on!

What wouldn’t we believe if you told us?

I had two pet lizards as a kid.  One of them escaped and I totally freaked out.  I thought they were totally cool when I played with them or looked at them in their cage, but if one of them suddenly showed up while I was taking a shower I knew I’d have a heart attack.  Low and behold, almost a year later, I was getting ready for school and I found it…in my dresser drawer on top of my t-shirts.  I jumped and screamed and put it back in its cage and then cried because I notice its tail had been cut off.  My story isn’t as cool but it was the first one that came to mind.  Haha!

OPP: Annoying At Super Bowl Party
Yi!

Here is the email from today’s OPP…

Yi-
My college buddies have been getting together every year for almost 10 years to watch the Super Bowl. It’s the one time we always get together. Girlfriends have come and gone. A couple of us are now married. But it’s been cool … until this year. One friend started dating a girl that we all hate. She is beyond annoying. He knows we hate her and he still wants to bring her to the Super Bowl party. What should we do?
Rick

Slacker and Steve say that he is going to start getting faded out.  If he brings his girlfriend, “Jenny Annoying Pants,” he is choosing her over all of his friends.  They think this is maybe his last ditch effort to get them to like her but this is a terrible time to do it.  It’s the biggest game of the year and she’s going to ruin it for all of them.  And why would he want to subject his girlfriend to all of his friends who can’t stand her?  More importantly than this OPP now is Slacker and Steve trying to find someone to make them “Jenny Annoying Pants” t-shirts.

What advice do you have for Rick?

I really hope I have never been considered that girl.  But, I’m pretty amazing so I’m thinking that’s not the case.  I think that Rick needs to just man up and tell his friend that none of them want his girlfriend there.  But if she does come, they should have a plan and a buffer.

GMD: Budget Cuts
Yi!

Today’s Great Mate Debate is live with Kelly and Graham, parents of two.  They are struggling financially and trying to figure out ways to cut back.  Kelly wants to get rid of cable and just use Netflix and Hulu.  Graham says that will only save them $150 a month and getting rid of the second car would be a much better option.  He thinks that will save about $450 a month.  Kelly fears that if they got rid of the second car that would turn her in to a chauffer because she is a stay at home mom and she wants no part of that.

Steve thinks of both as a necessity and invites us all to join him in the land of freedom that is being single.  Slacker says that if he were to be single again, he still has to pay pretty much everything the same way because he has two kids.  Once a jury member brought up the fact that Graham is the “bread winner” and it should be his decision, both Slacker and Steve worry that this is going to get to be a bigger argument…

Whose side are you on?

Personally, I’m on Kelly’s side.  Yes, getting rid of the car would save more money but it would also be much more of a hassle.  I do think though that she should look in to getting a part-time job and that would help with finances too.  Or she should become an “Extreme Couponer”!

Breast-feeding
Yi!

Three Delaware mothers staged a “nurse-in” at the Concord Mall.  They had a sign with them that read, “Do you eat in public? Why shouldn’t our babies?” However, only moments after their babies started to eat mall security came and told them that they needed to cover up or leave.  The mothers argued for their right to publicly breast-feed and the security guard left, only to return with a state trooper. The mothers were ultimately booted from the mall for breast-feeding.  All of this happened despite the fact that Delaware has a law that says that women are allowed to breast-feed in public and private locations.

Slacker talked about a time when he was in a mall and as he was coming up a set of stairs there was a woman breast-feeding on a bench at the top of the stairs.  He says that as he came up he received a full view of her baby eating as well as the deadliest look from this woman.  He asked, where else could he have possibly looked in that situation? Steve, on the other hand, said that we do eat in public, but we don’t rip our shirts off in the process.

Do you have any breast-feeding incidences?

I’m always in full support of women being able to breast-feed freely in public. I do expect them to be respectful and to not go looking for a fight, but I understand that when babies have to eat they have to eat.  Mothers shouldn’t have to go hide when their baby has to eat and society shouldn’t condemn them for simply doing what they have to do.

Girls Night Out Confession
Yi!

The infamous girl’s night out.  What exactly happens? No one seems to know except for the women themselves and we usually keep our lips locked. Many have guessed, but now it’s time to fess up!  A crazy, shameful one-night stand, a trip to jail, or a promise that what happens during girl’s night stays with the girls…

Redbook asked their readers what they did on their last girls' night out?

35.9% went out to dinner

12.5% took a shopping trip

8.7% went dancing

7.1% saw a movie

4.5% met for coffee

32.5% responded with 'what's a girl's night out?'

Slacker called BS on the Redbook results and refused to take any calls from women about their “coffee” dates.  He feels bad for woman-kind if these are what women really do on girl’s night out… but he also feels that we may be hiding something behind these results.

What are your craziest girl’s night out stories?!

I’m not ashamed to tell because as far as girl’s nights are concerned mine are pretty tame.  You know, as tame as possible. We go out, get dinner, and talk.  A lot of talking… which is what I personally can’t talk about ;) Luckily enough for me and my group of friends we’re to cash poor to go full out with VIP and such so my GNOs are never anything that we have to lock up in an air-tight vault.

OPP: She Made Changes Without Asking

Yi!

Today’s double OPP is about making changes… but failing to tell your significant other beforehand and ultimately blindsiding them.  One woman told her husband about her breast reduction over the phone.  He got really upset but she refuted by saying “it’s her body, she’s the one in pain, and she still has breasts so chill out.”  Another woman got a dramatic haircut without mentioning it to her boyfriend first…

“Yi boys! My girlfriend recently stunned me by coming home with a new haircut. She chopped all of her beautiful blonde hair off for no reason other than she wanted a change. I HATE IT. I definitely would have protested if she would have mentioned it to me before. How can I tell her to regrow her hair without hurting her feelings? I have to be honest she looks like a tomboy because her face is so long. HELP!

Derrick”

Slacker says that he would freak out if he was in Derrick’s position.  He has a slight disposition to women with long hair, anyways, but ultimately understands that in a relationship, the men have to ask for permission and the women can do whatever they want.  Steve came in from left-field and said that Derrick’s girlfriend is getting ready to leave him.

What changes have you made without telling your significant other?

I’ve never really been in this situation but I feel that it’s only common courtesy to discuss things with your significant other; even if it only involves hair.  Sure you don’t have to ask your significant other about everything but surely, being a woman, the subject of an impending haircut had to have come up. Women talk about everything; pedicures? Yeah, we’re just talking about our feet. Who knows if it was simply a whim or if she’s hiding something or trying to make a statement by doing this, but what I cannot stand is this double standard women seem to think they have (I can say this, I am one)… No, you can’t do whatever you want and then expect your boyfriend to ask you for permission to do what he wants.

Stopping a Wedding
Yi!

A man in Utah was so desperate to stop his ex-girlfriend’s wedding that he stole a truck, crashed it in the church parking lot causing $1000 in damages, and proceeded to beg her not to marry another man.  She refused to listen, however, and he was consequently charged with unauthorized control of a vehicle.

Slacker talked about his first wedding and the fact that it was almost stopped because he contemplated running away to Mexico with his Best Man who kept egging him on hours before the ceremony… He would have been (and almost was) the runaway groom.  Although Steve says he avoids weddings religiously he can recall one wedding he attended where the bridal party’s pictures kept being photobombed by random bicycle riding kids that caused to ceremony to be momentarily stopped.

What are your wedding crasher stories?

I’ve never been to a wedding that was crashed but if you’re gonna try to stop the love of your life from marrying another person you might as well do it with a little flare… for instance, you can steal a car, drive your sweet, stolen wheels to a church, and cause a scene by wrecking.  If you’re going to profess your love for someone who apparently loves someone else you might as well make a big production of it; go big or go home.

Pet Peeves
Yi!

If you’ve been listening, you can tell that Slacker has been sick for a couple months now.  With everything that has been going around, he just can’t kick this thing.  That’s annoying enough to him but to make matters worse, someone actually blamed him for getting them sick!  That’s one of his biggest pet peeves, and it has him in a wicked mood right now!

Steve, being Steve, is now blaming Slacker for everything that’s ever happened to him in his life now, and laughing almost uncontrollably at Slacker’s irritated reaction.  Slacker, once he finished his rant, says he feels a little bit better now.  He says he’s not the only person in the world or even this building that is sick so how can he be blamed for anyone else becoming ill.  He is just hoping now that since many people heard his rant, no one will blame him for their illnesses again.

What are your pet peeves?

I and many of my friends are bartenders. We hate being blamed for “over serving” people.  We don’t walk around and constantly force you to drink more.  You asked for another drink, shot or beer.  Therefore, you “over ordered!”

O.C.D.
Yi!

We all have little odd tendencies and things that need to be done a certain way. What are your odd quirks?  One woman can't stand driving over the road reflectors when changing lanes so she will wait until there aren't any reflectors before making a lane change.  One dude can't stand it when his phone charge gets lower than 75% so he is always charging his phone.  One woman loves the smell of freshly washed glasses from the dish washer.

Steve refuses to remove the plastic covering on his new phone because he doesn’t want to replace the free one he got with his phone.

OPP: Duped by Mother-In-Law
Yi!

Amy thought her mother-in-law was being nice so she thought she could trust her! Turns out she was wrong! They would go out for facials, manicures, hair colors, body massages, body wraps ect… and last week after a spa day, they were enjoying a few glasses of wine when her mother-in law let it slip that Amy’s husband mentioned that he thought she had let herself go after the baby. There was no way he could say anything to her, so he had his mom pretend to want to take her out to look good again.

Slacker and Steve seemed to stand buy the husband, it being a very uncomfortable topic to approach your wife with.

What would you have done? What kind of advice do you have for Amy?

Scammed
Yi!

The Scottish police are looking for a trio of scam artists; they approached a woman on the street last week and asked if she wanted to meet a spiritual healer. Two scammers brought their victim to the third, who promised she could bless her jewelry and cash. The victim went home, placed her valuables in a bag and then met the trio and blessed the bag in private before returning it ,telling the victim not to open it because the charm needed time to work. The victim found junk when she opened the bag.

Slacker and Steve brought up the infamous meat trucks that went around your neighborhood selling raw meat from a freezer in the back of a truck. He ended up buying $100 worth of ‘filet mignon’ and gave it to his father and now believes it’s the worst kind of meat to buy…he calls it ”horse leather” and “chihuahua meat”.
A personal scam that I’ve had was I bought a computer graphics card online with certain specifications and I received an item much worse than what I ordered. I was quite upset and was lucky enough to get my money refunded though.

What kinds of scams have you fell for?

Returners
Yi!

So with the Super Bowl coming up people are out buying new big screen TV’s and new furniture to impress their friends.  Then immediately after the game they return TV and furniture.  This is happening so much that stores are changing their policies.

Slacker has a family member that will buy a new shower curtain and put his old shower curtain in the packaging and return the shower to the store.  Steve had an ex-girlfriend that bought a vacuum cleaner and then returned it two years later. Nothing was wrong with the vacuum cleaner she just wanted to get money back.
What have you bought and returned and why?

I have never bought and returned really anything.  I have thought about it but I usually keep the items I purchased.  I do know people that buy and return things all the time.  That is usually clothing or something that they can’t afford anyway.  I work in a restaurant and I am always dealing with people that are not happy with their food and returning it.  Maybe that is the reason I never really return anything.  I am always on the other end of it.

Sibling Suffering
Yi!

Siblings usually have a close relationship and it can be painful!  If you have siblings you know that siblings are always being mean to each other.  It could be just hitting them on the shoulder or it could be as extreme as shoving a pencil in your brother’s ear.

Slacker was picked on by his brother. His brother would pin him down and spit on him. Slacker’s son picks on his younger sister.  She finally learned to retaliate and starting biting him back.   Steve and his sister were really close in age and he says they never picked on each other.
What are some of your stories?  Were you picked on?  Or were you the one who picked on your sibling?

I was picked on by older brothers all the time.  Actually, my younger brother was picked on by them as well.  It was so bad that I never picked on my younger brother.  We would stick together and not retaliate.   My brothers are quite a bit older than me, so attacking them physically was never really an option.  I would always tell them that I would pick on their kids, once they had them.  However, I never did that either.  I always liked hanging out with them rather than picking on them.  I think that is just the way it is when you have siblings.

OPP: Is My Husband Gay?
Yi!

Today’s OPP comes from Megan.

Yi,
My husband has a tendency to enjoy things that are female oriented.  For example:  his latest obsessions are the "50 Shades Of Grey" series.  Before that, all things Twilight.  He loves getting mani/pedis and spends more time in the bathroom getting read than me.  We've only been together for a couple of years and I'm beginning to wonder if I can stay married to a man who's more of a woman than I am.  Do you think I married a gay man who's in the closet?
Megan

Slacker thinks in this day and age that does not make you a gay man.  He does think it is questionable that her husband would be into all of these things, but that being said, that does not make you gay. He doesn’t spend much time getting ready, however some men do. Steve said he does all of those things but it does not make him gay. He does all of these things and he is the furthest thing from gay. He even reads “Twilight” because it is so well written.

Do you think Megan should be worried?

First of all, none of these qualities define a person’s sexuality. Just because a man likes getting mani/pedis or reading books that are typically for women doesn’t mean anything.  Not every man has to like football or drink mass quantities of beer.  I think if their sex life is suffering or he is checking out other men, than she might have a problem.  Otherwise, enjoy the marriage and enjoy each other.  It sounds like you might have lots of things in common.

GMD: College or No College
Yi!

Today’s live OPP isn’t a “couple,” it’s a mother and son.  Evelyn’s son, Timothy, loves computers and is great with them.  He is graduating high school in the spring and Evelyn wants him to go to college in the fall but he wants no part of it… That’s just one part of the argument.  Evelyn and her husband have saved up quite a bit of money to send Timothy to college, but since he has goals of becoming the next big name in computers he wants them to give him the “college money” so he can invest it in other projects.  Evelyn wants Timothy to succeed but thinks that going to college can only help his goal, and says that he is arrogant in his young age and still has a lot to learn.

Slacker and Steve are at opposite ends of this very much like Evelyn and Timothy.  Slacker does agree that it’s Timothy’s choice to not go to college, but pretty much can’t believe the audacity that of him to think that, that money is still owed to him if he chooses not to go.  Steve sees the money as Timothy’s to do with as he pleases, kind of.  His parents saved the money for his college as an investment for his future but if he doesn’t want to go, why not invest in his future the way he wants.  Steve says give him the money as a “start up” for his business.

Whose side are you on?

My turn…First of all, it’s the parent’s money…to choose to do with whatever they want!! They earned it and saved it for his college and that is very nice of them but they didn’t have to do it.  It’s not a requirement for a parent to have a college fund for their kids so he should be thankful that they did that in the first place.  Second, I think they should put a time limit on the college money.  If in 4 years he still doesn’t want to go to college they should spend the money on themselves, so he can’t turn around when he’s 28 and decide he wants to go to school then as a full on adult.  It’s cool that he chooses not to go to college right now, I was the same way.  But I had a job, paid all my own bills, went on vacations, bought vehicles and didn’t expect a thing from my parents.  Timothy needs to get over himself and grow up.

Inappropriate Laughter
Yi!

There’s a time and place for everything… especially laughter! Giggling in church and laughing during a funeral… Definitely not appropriate places to laugh. Steve told a story about how he ruined his baseball career by laughing at his coach’s pep talk. Because of Steve’s laughter he was suspended from the following game; the biggest game of the season for Steve because numerous pro ball scouts were at that game and he didn’t play.

Slacker remembers a time when he started laughing uncontrollably at a funeral. He couldn’t quite recall exactly what had caused him to laugh, but needless to say the floodgates opened and there he was… laughing hysterically at a funeral.

What inappropriate places have you laughed?

There have been countless times I’ve not been able to hold in my laughter at church. It’s not that I don’t take the sermons seriously it’s just that church is unfortunately the best place to calm your mind and meander down memory lane and that lane always happens to have some of the best inside jokes and memories you can remember.  Hence, uncontrollable giggles that make church really inappropriate and awkward.

Bad Dates
Yi!

It’s crazy how bad a bad date can be: he refused to pick up the check, she introduced you to her parents only hours after meeting you face to face, and he took you to a wet t-shirt contest. Dates are also synonymous for crashing and burning… fast. Clara met this great guy online, decided to ask him on a date, but the date didn’t end the way she expected…

“Yi! I've had an online dating profile for a while and was talking, texting, and emailing a man for a while so I finally asked him if he wanted to meet for a drink on Saturday. He said yes but suggested we meet for dinner and drinks. We met and had a great dinner, great conversation and heck, he even tried to kiss me before our meals arrived. But then the check came. We both just sat there looking at it for about 20 minutes until I finally picked it up and asked him what he wanted to do. He looked at me and stated that I was the one who asked him out for drinks so I should pick up the check. I was totally shocked.  He is a very well to do man while I am a single mom and only work part time (which he knew). Should he have paid? I want to see him again, but I don't want to date a cheapskate.

Clara”

Slacker believes in the traditional the-guy-picks-up-the-check when it comes to buying dinner or drinks. Steve said, however, that nowadays girls can get offended if the guy does pay for the check.

How bad have your bad dates been?

I’ve been on a few bad dates, but the one I had to endure last year definitely ranks in the top 5. I was basically tricked into going on a date because this guy and I had been talking for a while- we sat next to each other in one class and texted on and off- but I felt that he was simply a friend- I was worried that he might feel something more... Anyhow, we set up a time to hang out one day; he said a group of people were going to the Cheesecake Factory and I agreed to go, however, it turns out that the group of people getting together were all there to celebrate someone’s birthday… clearly I’d never met this person and this was a detail he had forgotten to mention. Needless to say I didn’t end up staying to celebrate this stranger’s birthday with him.

OPP: Gift to 15-Year-Old
Yi!

Karen’s daughter was given $1000 by her 16 year old sweetheart for Christmas. Karen doesn’t feel that the amount given is appropriate simply because of the age of the couple (her daughter is only 15) and now she has some concerns…

“Yi Slacker & Steve,

Our daughter came home from the mall with stuff she can't afford.  When pressed, she finally admitted her boyfriend has a part-time job, saved up his money and gave her $1000 as a Christmas gift.  He is 16 and our daughter is 15.  We think $1000 for a 15 year old is extremely inappropriate.  What do you think? Do we have the right to take the money away and return it to her boyfriend?"  What amount is more appropriate for a 15 year old girl?  Is her boyfriend attempting to "pay-for-the-V"?  How would you handle this situation?

Karen”

Slacker said that he wouldn’t be comfortable if this amount was given to his own daughter… he wouldn’t feel comfortable if she was given any cash at all and in this case the $1000 should be returned in some form. Steve kind of waffled when it came to answering the question about her virginity, but he basically thinks that this money is somehow going to the cause.

What advice do you have?

I don’t know what the boyfriend’s intentions are- maybe he’s just being really generous or he is going after the “v-card”- but I feel that she should be able to keep the money and whatever she bought with it because in the end it was a gift.  However, I think that both sets of parents should sit down with couple and try to understand where this expensive generosity came from? Why $1000? 15 and 16 certainly isn’t 13 or 12, but teenagers this age don’t always make the best decisions so talking to them and trying to understand wouldn’t hurt; in this situation I think this is what would be best.

Parent of the Year
Yi!

A mother in South Florida staged multiple fake car accidents in order to scam insurance companies, but she had her kids in the car during these “accidents” in order to get more money.  She made her children lie to the insurance companies and medical staff and even had them undergo unnecessary chiropractic treatments. Ultimately the woman was sentenced for 6.5 years in federal prison and had to pay over $71,000 in fines and restitution.

Slacker remembers when, as a child, his mom would go into bars, usually with him in tow, to retrieve his father.

What have your parents done in order to receive the “parent of the year” award?

I would have to give this award to my own mom.  About 11 years ago my mom, sister, and I went on vacation to Greece and while staying in one of those cramped, sad European hotel rooms my sister (who is five years older than me) somehow locked herself in the bathroom.  Eventually my mom called the main desk for some help but if as far as I’m concerned there was a good deal of laughing and joking in the process… my sister didn’t laugh that much.  Needless to say my sister received a lot of ribbing during the remainder of the trip.

Update : Sister Daughter

Yi!

Mystie had a child when she was younger, her parents made her give them the child. Her daughter has been raised by Mysties' parents for the past 16 years. Now that her daughter is older she wants to tell her the truth! She did, her daughter is shocked and her parents are no longer in contact with her.

What would you do and what kind of advice do you have for Mystie?

What are the downsides of being a woman?
Yi!

Lil D’s wife is pregnant and things are starting to happen to her,non-stop bathroom trips, fluid coming out of places it’s not supposed to and in honor of that, we want to hear all the gross, crazy things that happened to your body!

Slacker and Steve took a few people on the air and were very informative of their bodily functions. One caller even considered her TMI info as a form of birth control for her friends.

Reading/hearing these is a very good form of birthcontrol, i never want to get pregnant haha

My Life is a White Trash News Flash
YI!

A divorce over NASCAR, a family reunion that ended in a brawl or a bonfire that burnt the trailer to the ground!
Slacker and Steve took Amy’s call on the air and turns out, her mom asks her to sift through the neighbors  trash for things.

What stories that you have, are a white trash news flash?

OPP: Family Vacation
Yi!

Kimberly and her family have a trip to Hawaii planned but when her sister-in-law found out, they decided that they would go to Hawaii at the same time!
Her husband in passing, told his sister that they were going to Hawaii and in turn told their mom. The mother-in-law seemed to take this as in invitation and has invited themselves to their vacation. Kimberly and her family haven’t been on a vacation, ever and they finally have an opportunity to go!

What would you do in their situation?

Weird Stuff You Believe In
Yi!

Megan fox recently admitted in an interview that she believes in leprechauns, bigfoot and aliens. She is a devout Pentecostal, and believes that the prophecies in the Bible's Book of Revelation have begun.

When asked about her other beliefs in mythical creatures she said, "I like believing. I believe in all of these Irish myths, like leprechauns…I believe that this stuff came from somewhere other than people's imaginations.

I personally believe to some extent; ghosts and malicious beings that follow people through life. I had a firsthand experience of a person go from ok to depressing with harmful intent within 5 minutes. Turns out his mood change was due to a tall yellowed eyed being staring us down from the doorway.

Slacker and Steve mentioned reading an article of an orangish-red blob (possible UFO) at a Texas oil rig.

What kind of weird things do you believe in?

Slacking On The Job
Yi!

There is a guy that got fired from his job recently for outsourcing his job to China.  He “worked” from home and spent most of the day on the internet and paid a company one fifth of his salary to do his job that earned him a “top coder” title for many quarters.  When the company found out they fired him immediately and are now keeping a better eye on their employees that work from home.

Slacker has his nickname for good reason, when he worked at the airport he and the other employees would take turns napping for a couple hours at a time on the luggage that they were loading.  Steve used to clock his buddies in and out and they would never even show up to work.

How have you slacked off at work?

I am probably the world’s greatest employee.  Just kidding.  It’s pretty hard for me to slack off where I work but when I do it’s usually just sitting down at the bar top and do the puzzles in the newspaper and play on my phone.

Caught in a Lie
Yi!

Collegiate football player Manti Te’o is in the news and claiming to have been “catfished” by his cyber girlfriend who has allegedly died of leukemia; however, is this all a hoax? Lance Armstrong is finally confessing to using performance enhancing drugs after years of denying these accusations in an interview with Oprah.  If it looks like a “like”, walks like a “lie”, and talks like a “like” it’s probably a lie, but where’s the truth?
Slacker doesn’t think he needs to tell his son that he’s been married before, but he doesn’t want to end up being “caught in a lie” in the future.

What lies have you been caught in?

I’ve had my fair share of white lies and fibs, but I’ve never been dishonest to the point that it would break news or ruin the lives of many people.  Basically, I’ve never had to tell a lie in order to gain status, achievement, etc.  I’m also a really bad liar so I do my best to avoid it because getting caught in a lie is worse than facing any consequences, which can be bad but can also be a lot worse if you’re not truthful in the first place.

OPP: Speed Therapy
Yi!

We are doing multiple OPP’s today…

Yi! I went on a first date the other night. I thought everything went good on the date but he didn’t try to kiss me when he dropped me off. I was expecting it but got NOTHING! Does that mean he’s not into me? Nikki

Yi, I have a moral question to pose to you and your listeners.  If you rented a car and found money in the glove box, would you return it?  I recently had my car in the shop and rented a car for a few days while it was being worked on.  It wasn't until the day I was going to return it that I opened the glove box and found an envelope with money in it.  It wasn't a fortune, mind you, but a few hundred dollars.  I first put it in my wallet and went on about my business, and now my guilt is tugging on me a bit. Should I have kept it? JJ

Yi Slacker and Steve - I saw a neighbor taking something out of another neighbors mailbox and am not quite sure what to do about it.  At first I thought maybe they'd left something for him in there, then I remembered they'd been gone for a couple of days so that wouldn't be likely.  I don't know either of the homeowners very well and I'm thinking that may be my excuse for not getting involved. Thoughts? Nora

Slacker and Steve both think that either the guy is not into her or she has found the one gentleman left.

They would not get involved with the neighborhood theft; they would not want to get into a whole federal investigation over mail theft.

They would keep the money that was found in the rental car.

What advice do you have for these OPPs?

I would tell Nikki not to worry about not getting a kiss on the first date.  He was probably trying to be a gentleman and wait until the second date before making a move.  It does sound crazy but there are gentleman out there who want to do the right thing and be old school and respectful. I’m sure he wanted to kiss Nikki and I’m sure he will if given another chance.

Later,

GMD: Kids at the wedding
Yi!

Jason and Amy are getting married and after seeing the mess of a wedding one of their friends had – complete chaos with children running wild- they both agreed that their nuptials would be kid free.  However, Amy’s friend, Melinda, has a two month old baby that she basically refuses to leave at home and Amy is willing to make an exception.  Jason strongly disagrees because he feels that if she was allowed to bring her baby more would have to be allowed to come because it wouldn’t be fair to the other family members and friends who have already made plans for baby sitters, etc.

Steve is wholeheartedly on Jason’s side. Slacker said that, if the baby was allowed to come, how much time would Amy be able to spend time with her friend anyway considering a two month old is clearly so demanding?

Whose side are you on?

I’m personally a fan of kid free weddings.  In the end I personally don’t like kids in general, so to not have them at a wedding is okay with me.  However, I feel that once a rule is made that rule needs to stand or change entirely (i.e. if one kid is allowed then all kids should be allowed or no children means no children).  In this case, however, I agree that their “adults only” wedding should remain as that.

Weird words that went away
Yi!

Conniption, Doi, No duh, psyche, Hum-dinger (the heck?) , weird words that went away.
Slacker misses’ conniption and hella, he also brought a person on the air with the “Psych”; though a few made him rage pretty hard. “Git-r-done”, thing-a-ma-jigger and “wazzzuupppp”.

Steve grew up in the “mega” era.

Update : Stepping into Psycho
Yi!

Last week we talked with Emily, her boyfriend mysteriously went to Vegas on a business trip and Emily is on a mission to see if something’s up. She’s booked her flight and bought a wig to stalk him around. So he went to conferences and meetings while there and Emily caught her boyfriend with a woman at a restaurant. She confronts him, flies off the handle, throwing things and turns out the woman is his supervisor. He is now reconsidering the relationship.

Turning from stepping into psycho to it’s not what it looks like! Steve’s friend almost went to jail for spousal abuse against his wife for bruises when the bruises came from playing with her kids! Tell us your story of it’s not what it looks like!

OPP: Not his Nephew
Yi!

Samantha’s boyfriend still talks to his ex’s nephew and the kid still calls him uncle. They talk on the phone and her boyfriend sends gifts to him. She’s jealous of him staying in contact with someone from his ex’s life, is she justified? Or completely insane to consider being jealous?

Slacker felt very strongly that Samantha is over reacting and should chill out

On the other hand, Steve felt that she is somewhat justified, the ex-girlfriend should have severed that tie also since it seems like a one way street with her boyfriend.
What do you think?

Swallowed
There are a ton of stories in the news about people and pets swallowing things! London rugby player Jason Tovey was recently forced to pull out of a match after his puppy ate his passport. A London woman's cat swallowed her TV antenna.

Butterscotch candy has almost killed both Slacker and Steve... it even sent Steve's sister to the ER! An old coworker got caught having an affair because his dog ate his mistresses underwear!

What have you or your pets swallowed?

OPP: Baby Ear Pierce
Her family has a tradition for new babies into the family…but her husband and his family won’t let their daughter do it:

Yi Slacker and Steve, My husband and his family are absolutely outraged with me because I want to have our two-month-old daughter's ears pierced. In my family's culture this is the norm. But his family thinks it's barbaric and immoral for me to want to do this. What should I do? I don't want to be influenced by them when they don't understand my culture, but I also want to compromise with my husband when it comes to decisions about our daughter. Please help – I don't know what to do!
Maria

The guys are torn because when family traditions are involved it makes debates like this even harder. Slacker and his wife agreed that if and when their daughter is old enough to ask to get her ears pierced, she can do it because ultimately it's her body. Steve's former brother-in-law took his son to get his ears pierced without consulting Steve's sister, and she was mad.

What should Maria do?

Fainting
Steve won’t admit it, but he’s a serial fainter…concerts, church…it doesn’t matter. He fainted at midnight mass when he was an alter boy, he fainted at The Romantics concert drinking with his friends. Slacker has never fainted but his brothers have fainted, one from a deep cut and the other passed out after giving blood.

Do you have a fainting story? What made you faint?

Busted Ride
Yi!

So Slacker and Steve took a quick ride with Little D today and realized what a busted ride he has.  While Steve was in the back seat he had to be turned around to let Little D know if and when he could get over because… he doesn’t have a rearview mirror!

Slacker and Steve realize that Little D has a baby on the way and probably has other stuff to spend his money on but it just made them reminisce about the busted ride that Slacker had… In high school he bought a Ford Pinto that his parents led him to.  It was so ugly that even though it practically had a fold out bed in it, he couldn’t get any girls to get inside it!  It was Forrest Green with fake wood paneling that was peeling off.  The hood was purchased at a junk yard in a dark brown shade, and the front passenger side was Baby Powder Blue.  Slacker is pretty convinced that no one can top this…

What makes your vehicle a “busted ride”?

My friend and I had what we called “hoopties” when we were 17.  Mine wouldn’t move more than ten feet if I didn’t let it warm up for ten minutes.  Hers had a heater that never turned off.  So, in the middle of the summer she would drive down the highway with the heat cranked until she was about to pass out, then quickly roll down the windows for the burst of fresh air.  As crappy as they were, we never wrecked them, but when we finally bought newer, nicer cars, we wrecked them three days apart from each other.

Thought It Was Gone Forever
Yi!

William Kay-Dahr of Indiana has been reunited with his Army duffel bag after nearly 70 years.  Kay-Dahr served overseas in France during WWII and lost his duffel bag before being captured by Germans and forced to march across France and Germany.  His POW camp was freed in 1945.  A young man in France just found the duffel bag in his grandfather’s attic and tracked the soldier down through a military museum.  Completely intact, the bag was returned to its rightful owner after almost 70 years!

Steve told a story of a kid that had brought home a text book and the father saw it, realized and proved that it was the exact same text book that he had used as a child.  Slacker’s wife lost her diamond out of her wedding ring and is still waiting for the janitors to call and say that they have found it.  Other than that, the only other stories they know of are the “typical” sewage workers that find a class ring and return it just so they can live out their fifteen minutes of fame on the local news.

What have you thought was gone forever?

I recently lost fifty bucks in my house and still can’t remember where I put it.  But more importantly, my sister lost a ring that meant a lot to her at the beginning of the summer.  She said she looked everywhere for it and was upset that it had been months and still not shown up.  I was vacuuming her room, because I’m such a nice sister, and found it wedged between the base of a chair and her carpet.  I was so excited that I drove to her work in my dirty-clean-the-house-clothes before I finished vacuuming and gave it to her.

OPP: Dead Dog
Yi!

Today’s OPP knows what he wants to do, he just doesn’t know when he can do it…

Yi! Now that the holidays are over I was somewhat looking forward to being single again.  The girl I am dating is great but not what I'm looking forward to in 2013.  My plan is to break-up with her this week, very nicely though and in person.  But her childhood dog, who was well past his prime, just passed away.  There is no way to end this relationship in good conscience right now.  Can I wait a few days and then do it?  Or how long should I have to wait?  Do I have to be there for support?
Grant

Steve has jumped on both sides of this topic about ten times so we’re still not really sure what he thinks, he’s just checked out.  Slacker, on the other hand, is totally against the idea of Grant breaking up with her right away.  Similar to a math table, he says that depending on the size and significance of the pet is how you know how long you have to wait to break up.  For example, a dog warrants 1-2 weeks before a break up can take place.  If the break up follows anything that is sad enough to grow a country song, it just cannot be done at the time.

How long do you think he needs to wait to break up with her?

I think he needs to do it now.  I see no point in him faking any sensitivity to the loss of her dog if he doesn’t want to be with her.  And I can’t imagine that she wants to be seen as a charity case because of it either.  She’s gonna be hurt and sad no matter what, this will just hopefully make the length of sadness shorter.

Indecent Proposal
Yi!

Steve has a female friend that was recently propositioned in Vegas.  She was with a couple friends at a club and a group of unattractive men were hitting on them and buying them drinks all night.  Finally, one of the guys asked Steve’s friend if she would make out with him and in return he would take her to the designer handbag shop next door and purchase a bag for her…She accepted.

Slacker says that there is no way around this, what she did makes her a prostitute and anyone who would do the same is just as skanky.  He says that just because it’s not cash that she received it was still an exchange for an intimate act.  Steve doesn’t see it as such a big deal, after all it is Vegas.  Plus she knew what she was getting in to and it wasn’t relations so it just made both him and her happy.

Would you accept this guy’s offer?

I totally would, especially in Vegas and with enough cocktails!  I may never be able to afford a handbag of that stature and would tell the story every time I got a compliment on it.  I don’t feel bad about it at all either. Haha!

Man Card Monday
Yi!

While the majority of men in Colorado spent their weekend watching football, like normal men do, Steve had his own un-manly agenda…watching Lifetime movies!  He is now at risk of losing his man card.

Steve first swears that he was watching it for “the hot chicks,” then said he DVR’d it on accident.  Either way, he did not watch one of the biggest NFL games this year!  Slacker admits that he lost his man card a long time ago but has been gaining it back slowly by being a father alone.  But he also does manly things like fry his own hot wings while watching the game and then grabbing the scalding hot pot with his bare hands and carrying it outside to dump in the snow.

What has your man done to lose his man card?

I dated a guy a long time ago who was a Marine, and that’s pretty damn manly.  He fought wars, rode motorcycles, lifted weights, and drank like a champ.  He also loved to listen to Delilah, the love song talk show host, while he drove across the country.  I actually think it’s pretty cute but if his guy friends knew I think they would revoke his man card.

Stepping into Psycho
Yi!
Are you about to bust your spouse? Slash the tires on your co-workers cars? Pregnant and unsure who the father is? Caught a cheater?

Slacker talked about going to the store with Steve and Steve couldn’t get the attention of a clerk to buy a certain computer. He takes a hold of the situation (psycho moment) by climbing on top of the stocking ladders and declared that he is trying to buy a computer at the top of his lungs. Clerks immediately flocked to his assistance.

What has made you go psycho ?

She’s going on a business trip next week and she needs help figuring out how to pack some not so business things. She’s concerned about packing her ‘toys’, her friends say they take them all the time and to not worry about it. Have you ever accidentally knocked-over a display at the store? What did you knock over? How bad was the mess and did you stay to help clean it up or did you try and hide it?

Steve had this embarrassing event happen to him while at the store, he broke a display case and he offered to pay for the display. The clerk said no and not to worry about it, Steve was obviously mortified and said he would never return to that store ever again. Slacker was perplexed that the clerk didn’t accept Steve’s money since he believed if you break it, you buy it.

Shoulda Gotten Fired

Yi!

Wrecking the boss’ car, insulting your company’s biggest client, catching the office on fire… it seems like you’re ten times more accident prone at work and every mistake can be blown up into a giant catastrophe! These mistakes and accidents sometimes end with someone being fired.

Slacker says that if he was ever asked to house sit he would do the bare minimum: watering the plants, feeding the pets, and getting the mail. Basically, Slacker believes that when someone says “make yourself at home” it doesn’t mean take out the car… you shouldn’t act like you actually live there.  Both Slacker and Steve are afraid of being called into the office after their show.

Have you even done something at work where you should have been fired?

I’ve never done anything too terrible while on the clock, but I definitely have made some giant mistakes that have turned a shift into an unbearable monster.  I used to work as a coat check in an establishment that got tons of business- we were usually at or above capacity on the weekends.  However, my first night on the job I ended up losing a customer’s jacket and I happened to lose it on one of the coldest nights of the week.  All I could do was apologize profusely and hope he wouldn’t scream too loudly at my manager and end up getting me fired my first day on the job; none of which happened thankfully.

OPP: Turn Mean To Get The GIrl
Yi!

Today’s OPP needs our help…we’re just not sure WE know how to help him with this…

Yi!  Can you help me understand women?  I’m 26, have a great job and am fairly good looking.  I’ve never been lucky in love.  My friends say I’m too nice and that women like men who treat them poorly.  It’s true that I’m a romantic and I treat women with respect.  It would never occur to me to be anything other than caring and generous.  I’ve seen many women drooling over selfish idiots who use them.  That’s not me!  Are my friends right?  Should I develop a mean streak because it always seems nice guys finish last?
Steven

Now, you know why Slacker and Steve are worried that they, personally, won’t be able to help him.  Slacker says that Steve very chivalrous but is still kind of a bad guy.  But he is who he is and doesn’t pretend to be anything or anyone else so that attracts women.  They both agree that changing who you are as a person isn’t going to fix the problem.  Slacker points out that it’s not just Steven with this problem, though, plenty of “good guys” are all alone out there, but there are tons of women crying about being single because all the good guys are taken and ignoring the ones right in front of you.  It’s totally a figure eight problem.

Do you think it’s true that “nice guys finish last”?

I don’t think that the phrase is totally true but I do think that if a guy comes off needy or too available I lose interest.  I think everyone likes a chase even if it is just a little one.  But then that’s when you get to be the nice guy.  I wish him luck though!

GMD: Parental Divorce
Yi!

Cory and Vanessa’s parents are going through a rough time and their mother wants to find refuge with one of her children… she wants some time away from her husband and is asking for Cory and Vanessa’s help.  However, Vanessa is strictly against the idea of letting her mom stay with her because she feels all she needs to do is talk to her husband and fix their problems together rather than enabling and facilitating her parent’s divorce.  On the other hand, Cory has already given his mom permission to stay with him because he wants to help her in any way that he can.  He understands his mom’s need for some space.

Slacker said that Vanessa and Cory have ultimately chosen a parent to back and support (Vanessa admitted to being a daddy’s girl and Cory a momma’s boy) and if the tables were turned Vanessa would probably not falter in allowing her dad to stay with her.  Steve feels that Cory’s action should be indicted because he’s simply letting his mom crash… he’s just being helpful.

Is Cory wrong for allowing his mom to stay with him or is Vanessa’s tough love approach the right decision?

In this situation I feel that, in the end, it’s the mother’s decision to do what she needs to do during this trying time.  I understand the possibility that she simply needs space and seeking help from her children isn’t a big deal.  I feel that her children should respect whatever their mom needs to do because- despite the fact that divorces affect numerous family members- in the end, it will be the mom divorcing the dad.  Speaking from personal experience, children, no matter how old, never know the entire story.  These two may understand the gist of what their parents are fighting about but certainly are not completely in-the-know.  Divorce is ultimately a decision made between spouses.

What reminds you of your ex?

Yi!

Whether it be a song, fragrance or restaurant, certain things remind us of an ex.

Slacker talked about his ex wife told him about a band that he should play on the air, and she believed that she was the one that made this band huge. Turns out it was nickleback and now everytime he hears this song hes reminded by his ex.

My personal story is whenever a song that he liked came on the radio i would be reminded of him. Songs were a huge one, also places we went and now i tend to avoid going to the areas he goes.

Emily recently went through a breakup and her ex doesn’t want her to contact him under any circumstance. The catch is that she found out she’s pregnant and is unsure on if she should breech contact and tell him, or just leave him out of it.

Why I Cheated
This week marks the most popular time for married people to sign up for websites to begin affairs.

illicitEncounters.com says that more affairs will start this week more than any other time during the year. Why? They say it’s the little encounters that turn into full-on flings, like you take that flirting with a colleague into something more or you start spending more time on websites where it’s easy to chat with attractive strangers.  You’ve had an uncomfortable holiday season with many arguments with your spouse that causes you to do the above.

They also say that traffic on dating websites for married people increase by 25% on January 7th.
Steve said that he thinks women are more willing to cheat because of the New Year, new hair, new everything.  He believes that they just want a new change in their lives.

Have you ever cheated? What caused you and was it for the better or worse of your life?

Extreme Parenting
A dad got so fed up with his son online gaming habits, he hired in-game assassins to constantly stalk and kill his son’s gaming character with the hope that his son would start putting more effort into getting a job.

Slacker wants to give this guy the 'Dad of the Year" award! He thinks this is brilliant! As far as extreme measures, Slacker is a huge advocate of taking doors, bathroom and bedroom, off the hinges.

What extreme measures have you used to change a child’s behavior?

Animal Encounters

Animals can be unpredictable and we want to hear when you had a crazy animal encounter. One woman found a python wrapped around her daughter! She says her cat's hissing woke her up. When she pried the snake from her daughter it bit her!! A Washington man was attacked by a pack of coyotes, in his back yard, while walking his dog! He was given 26 rabies shots because of the attack.

Steve tried rescuing a puppy from the interstate, unsuccessfully… and got nipped in the process. Because of the puppy bite, he had to go to the hospital... in case you were wondering, rabies shots are no longer given in the gut, its faster in the butt according to Steve.

What’s your crazy animal encounter?

OPP: Mom is a Cougar
Being happy for the success of family members isn’t always easy. Today’s OPP is upset that her Mom is doing better than her… Amanda’s mom is a cougar. She goes to the same bars as her, dresses inappropriately, and gets more men than Amanda. Amanda says that she is supposed to be having the time of her life while she is young, but her mom is ruining it! Amanda wants to put a stop to it.

Slacker thinks Amanda is being a brat. Her mom is more confident and confidence is more attractive. Slacker and Steve both agree that either Amanda needs to bow out, or they need to divide up the town. Either way, Amanda needs to talk to her mom.

What advice do you have for Amanda? Should she talk to her mom? Do they divide up the town?

#hashtag
Hashtags have become a part of everyday interaction. There are just some hashtags that don't need any more explanation, like #oopsnumber2atWH. Other hashtags, #neverwearingabackpackagain, make you not want to hear anymore of the story!

#nolovejustcleanedthesheets - Steve turned down relations because he just got his comforter cleaned.
#nopantsatthepool - Slacker was depants at the pool... by a girl!

So we're challenging you, tell us your most  embarrassing story as a hashtag. If your hastag is good enough, 'lil D will put you on the air!

Consumer Reports: As Seen On TV
Yi!

A new Consumer Report shows that many As Seen On TV products aren’t as good as they claim to be.  After testing they have found that the SlapChop, who claims to dice, chop, and mince in seconds, actually chops unevenly and requires about 20 more slaps when it comes to harder foods.  The lovable Snuggies are proving to be shedding after you wash them.  And the ShamWow claims to hold 12 times its weight in liquid but really only holds ten times it’s weight.

Slacker and Steve say…who cares! Snuggies, it’s a backwards robe, what do you want?! ShamWow, really? Only ten times its weight instead of twelve, big deal!  And The SlapChop, come on! Having to slap it twenty times instead of four is still way quicker and more fun than having to stand over a cutting board for a half hour!  So they pretty much think that Consumer Reports are nitpicky and should calm down.

What have you bought that was a flop and what worked awesome?

I just have to say that if I come across an infomercial, nine times out of ten I’m getting sucked in and watching.  If I wasn’t so poor I’d probably buy stuff but luckily I’ve never gone that far.  When the makeup Bare Minerals or Bare Essentials (I can’t remember the name) started getting sold in Ulta, I hauled my tail over there and bought up the starter kit as soon as I made the sales woman do the trial on my face.  I don’t use that brand anymore but it is them that made me start on that kind of makeup.

Crap You Did To Your Parents
Yi!

Kids can and will do some pretty crazy stuff to their parents to get what they want.  Two sisters, 15 and 16, in California recently drugged their parents so that they could get on the internet!  The girls offered to pick up milkshakes for their parents from a fast food restaurant and put sleeping pills in them.  The parents drank them and passed out for the night.  The next morning they were suspicious so they took a drug test that they bought and busted their kids. Both girls were taken to juvenile hall once the parents called the police.  The teens told police that they wanted to use the internet but their parents turned it off at 10 pm. We have no idea what the teens were looking at online.

Steve grew up much different than the rest of us it seems… He took money out of his mother’s purse, copied his parent’s car keys to steal the car, knew the combination to his grandparents safe, you name it, he probably did it… Slacker was a “goody-two-shoes.”  He can’t believe that Steve can justify any of the stuff that he did to his parents because Slacker was too scared of his father to ever cross him.

What crazy stuff have you done to your parents?

I am one of three kids in my family and I just want you all to know that I was and still am an angel  J  Ok, maybe I wasn’t perfect but I was a very well behaved kid in general and compared to my brother and sister.  T & K, I love you guys!

OPP: Can't Look At Naked
Yi!

So this might be one of the most difficult OPP’s to date.  Let’s start with the letter…

Yi guys,
I met a hot girl at my gym. After getting to know her for awhile I finally asked her if she wanted to get together outside of the gym. She agreed and now we have been on like 10 dates. We hadn’t really gotten physical, but this weekend things turned pretty hot & heavy on our date and we ended up back at my place. After some making out she took off her shirt and for the first time I saw her scars. It was a big shock because they were huge. She has always worn shirts that cover them up and never said anything about them. Apparently she was in a bad car accident as a kid and needed surgeries. It caught me by surprise and kind of grossed me out and for the first time in my life I asked if we could turn the lights off. Has anyone ever had something like this happen to them? Should I tell her that’s why I got weird? Should I not say anything and just keep pretending I like the lights off? Help guys!
Brian

This is difficult as it is and we’re sure you already have your opinions formed and so do we.  Kind of…

Steve starts by saying that he will not crucify Brian for this.  Slacker says that it’s a situation where nobody is right or wrong yet.  Brian was caught off guard and isn’t saying it’s a total deal breaker.  But should she have warned him? Or is it better that she didn’t and saw his true reaction.  Slacker and Steve agree that there is still a possibility for this relationship because she is beautiful in every other way and he is trying to work this out instead of run right away.

What do you think Brian should do?

I already know the twist in this story so I’m just going to say this, I have one of those things that I choose to bring to a potential partners attention.  I don’t need to be naked because it is my hand but, I think that it’s all a part of the honesty that should be in a relationship.

Here’s the twist…Brian is really a girl named Brianna that met a hot guy at the gym and the rest of the story is as was told already.  Does that change your opinion?

Psychic
Yi!

A mother in Connecticut (Karen Dryer) is convinced that her 5 year old son (Logan) is psychic!  Her son was a kindergartner at Sandy Hook Elementary this year until a couple months before the shooting he would get very weepy at school.  When she took her son to the doctor to see if he was sick they said he was perfectly healthy but it would be a good idea to remove him from school for a little while.  When the little boy and his mother met with the principal, Dawn Hochsprung, she told him “We love you and this is a wonderful place.”  Logan screamed in response and said, “No, no! It’s not a safe place. I am scared.”  Karen’s mother had passed away a few months before the tragedy but was a very psychic person that Karen believes passed her gift on to her son.

Slacker and Steve typically are on opposite sides about the belief of psychics.  Slacker believes in them and mediums within reason.  Steve usually tries to find the holes in every psychic story he hears.  But this story has him pretty speechless.  At first he wondered if maybe Logan was bullied or something and that’s why he didn’t feel safe.  Slacker explained to him that kindergartners are never left alone and that it would be pretty impossible for that to have happened.  So this psychic story itself is kind of freaking him out.

What psychic stories do you have?

I had a best friend for many years that I was very close with.  When she and I quit speaking I wrote her off in a harsh way.  It had been around a year since we’d last spoken when one morning I woke up to a weird dream.  I dreamt that she was sitting on the edge of my bed crying.  When I first woke to her I was mad and wanted her to go away until she said she was sorry and that she needed me.  She said that her new husband wanted a divorce because she was pushing him to have children.  I had told my sister the dream and didn’t think about it again.  Later that day I got a phone call from a mutual friend giving me the news that she and her new husband were in fact getting a divorce and it did have something to do with children.  Crazy!

GMD: She Already Has The Dress
Yi!

Lyla and Nate called us live for Great Mate Debate today. They are planning their wedding currently and are hung up on a very serious disagreement… Lyla was engaged before and had purchased a wedding dress. The previous wedding was called off but she saved the dress in the hopes that she would find the real Mr. Right and be able to wear the dress that she loved so much. Nate is totally against it and says that he has no problem buying her a new dress but he wants nothing to do with a dress that she had initially bought for another man…

It took Slacker a few minutes but he finally solved this dress issue that he believes is tainted with "bad juju". He thinks that Lyla should go to a bridal shop and purchase a cheap wedding dress and throw that one away in front of Nate and he'll never know the difference! Steve thinks that both parties have made good points. He knows what it's like to be attached to something but also understands that the dress wasn't meant for him originally.

Whose side are you on?

I personally would like to know how she first mentioned the thought of wearing the "old dress" in the first place and why. I do think she should get rid of it and start all over like she did in her love life. If it worked for finding a new man it should work for finding a new dress. But if it's such a big deal to keep that one she never should have told him, it's not like he ever saw it so he'd never know.

OPP: Abortion
"Yi Slacker and Steve,

I’ve heard you talk about serious topics before and I was wondering if you could get me some advice. I made a mistake before I met my husband and I got pregnant. I was young and didn’t have the money to raise a child so I got an abortion. Now, my husband and I have been trying desperately for the last year to get pregnant with no luck. I have had this feeling that the reason we haven’t conceived yet is because I’m being punished in some weird way for what I did the first time I got pregnant. I know in reality that’s not really happening but it’s been such a weight on my shoulders. How do I get over an abortion?

Candy "

Yi!

She believes shes being punished for being unable to conceive with her husband by her previous abortion.

What should she do? And how should she get over it?

Cellphones on Airplanes
Yi!
Flying with cell phones, do you think you should turn off your cell phone when on an airplane? And do you think there are any negative effects of cell phones on airplanes?

There was an article of a man that refused to turn off his cell phone, taxied the airplane back to the terminal and asked him to get off the plane.  He refused and ended up being arrested for disorderly conduct. Was the man in the wrong or was it no justified?
Slacker said he truly believes that cell phones and electronic devices such as nooks, kindles, ipads and pocket games should not be so strictly regulated on keeping them put away. They took a few callers and had a flight attendant discussed that it shouldn't be that difficult to turn them off. She believed that people should just comply and be able to turn off their electronics without a hassle.

Should cell phones and other electronic devices be enforced to be shut off or should the airlines be more lenient?

The Roomate from Hell

Slacker mentioned his ex wife would sleep over at his house and eventually started bringing stuff over every week. She had just signed a lease at her own place so she started  to purposly leave things around the house to force her actual roommate to break the lease, so she could live with him.

WHEN ROOMMATES ATTACK... WITH A SLEDGEHAMMER
A man in Mesa, Arizona was arrested after he allegedly went after his roommate with a sledgehammer.

The victim called 911 and said that he was trying to break up an argument between his roommate and his brother when the suspect began smashing the bedroom door with the sledgehammer.

The 911 operator also heard him threatening to kill the victim, but officers showed up and helped the man and his dog to climb through a window to safety.

The SWAT team was called when the suspect refused to come out, but he was eventually arrested.

And, yes, alcohol was definitely a factor.

Mom (And Fetus) Kickin' It At Ultrasound Parties
Yi!

For those of you that haven’t been around a pregnant person recently, there is a new development in the world of ultrasounds.  Licensed ultrasound techs can show you 3D pictures of your unborn child!  The excitement doesn’t stop there either…parents to be can host a 3D Ultrasound party for their loved ones to catch a glimpse of the baby also… It sounds like tons of fun but there can be some downsides to it…

Slacker thinks that the 3D ultrasound itself is pretty cool.  But being a father himself, he can recall the intimate moments during the ultrasounds with his children.  His fear or concern about having the people you love most around while doing it is having an audience while you possibly find out that there are complications or problems with the baby.  He had a friend that did one and they found out that the baby had died.  He feels very strongly that some information doesn’t need to be shared with everyone right away.

What do you think about these Ultrasound parties and would you want one?

My beautiful nephew was born just a couple months ago and I had the great pleasure of attending one of these parties before he was born.  I never asked my brother and his girlfriend if there was a specific reason that they were doing it or if it was just for the family to be involved and part of it.  But my brother and I share a very special bond that we were hoping would not carry over into his son/my first nephew…  All parents hope for their children to be happy and healthy, but our parents were greeted by children with “deformities.” (I hate that word.)  But, we are both very happy, healthy and functioning and luckily so is the new baby.  I do know that we were both looking in the ultrasound to make sure he had all his fingers, toes and ears…So I think they are a very cool thing.

Busted
Yi!

A man flying over his own house saw a criminal in action… his trailer was being stolen from right under him.  The pilot subsequently called the police and the man was busted!

Slacker recalled a time when he younger and used to hide “hard core”, adult magazines and video tapes around his parents’ house.  One day, however, he reached into one of his hiding places and found… nothing.  His mother had found his stash, knew her son looked at porn, but didn’t say a word to Slacker about it which made his “busted” experience all that much worse. Steve, on the other hand, used to steal a lot but quit at the age of 18 so his record would be expunged.

How have you gotten busted or busted someone else?

When I turned 21 my close friends still had a little time to go.  So they got fake ids and went to bars with me.  One night, a bouncer took my friend Liz’s id and said there was no way it was her, she foolishly tried to argue.  After yelling at him for a minute and saying she could prove it was her by going to get her credit card from her car, he threatened to call the police and let them deal with it.  She and the rest of us tucked our tails between our legs and ran out of the bar.

OPP: Slept With BFF's Brother

Yi!

It’s hard to explain why you find yourself attracted to someone… but under the right circumstances those feelings of attraction can be acted upon and today’s OPP, Blaire, experienced this phenomenon first hand recently:

“Yi! On New Year’s Eve, I got tipsy and slept with my best friend’s brother.  My friend is pretty protective of her brother and always makes snide comments to the girls he dates.  I know she’ll freak if she finds out.  Neither of us regret it and want to hook up again.  How do I tell my friend what’s happening?

Blaire”

Both Slacker and Steve agree that it would be one thing to keep this from the BFF if this New Year’s Eve hookup was strictly a one night stand, but Blaire wants to continue this physical relationship which complicates things even more.  Slacker said that if it were him he would keep these activities on the down low.  He argues this because he says it’s sometimes hard not to fantasize about a friend’s sibling; so it’s only natural.

Do you think she should tell her best friend?

If it were me in this situation I would hope that my relationship with my best friend would be strong enough so I would be able to tell her things like this.  However, the fact that Blaire wants to keep this relationship with her BFF’s sibling strictly physical makes the idea of telling her upfront cringe worthy because surely the best friend wants something more for her brother.  In the end though, I think the best thing to do in this situation is… be honest and tell the sister what’s happening.

Stay classy!

Surgery Gone Wrong!
Yi!

A WOMAN STUCK WITH PART OF A DENTIST'S DRILL IN HER LUNG
A woman (in Sweden) ended up with part of a dentist's drill in her right lung after she swallowed it during surgery.
The woman, said to be in her 60s, was having dental implants put in. She was pulled into a sitting position, but it was too late to stop the part from heading south and settling in her right lung.
She had to undergo surgery where a tube was sent into her lung with a small camera and pliers to grab hold of the drill.
A rep for the dentist said that they have new procedures in place to avoid any future problems but he wouldn't guarantee that it wouldn't happen again and added, "Unfortunately, drills are going to be dropped every now and then.”

Luckily, the woman is expected to be okay.

Have you had a nightmare surgery? Tell us about it!
