Over the weekend, Slacker was at Dave & Busters and while he was there he placed a bet with a guy. He said there was no way Tebow was going to do his thing again and pull of a miraculous win, especially being down by 10 late in the 4th quarter. If he was wrong, he would go to church! Well, apparently Slacker didn’t know the 4th quarter with three minutes left to play was Tebow’s thing, so… He lost the bet. Now he’s like, well do I go to church? It’s not like anyone will really know….? Well, except for Jesus as he said. Here’s the thing though… Would they even want him? He’s just jumping on a bandwagon going to church because he placed a bet. Wouldn’t they think of him as some kind of poser and want to kick him out? And on another note, is it like the time you make a deal with God when your car is tittering off a cliff and you are saved, yet once it’s over you say it was the tires that saved you and not God, so you don’t do what you said you would?
Steve says as long as no one is watching, you don’t have to pay off the bet because why put in the effort? Plus, it was a bet in a bar! He doesn’t think God would get upset with him if he doesn’t go. Slacker thinks that would speak to his word though as a dude. He will know he didn’t do it and feel guilty about it. And all guys, when you make a bet, you don’t want to back out.
What do you think Slacker should do? What does he need to do?
I am all about Slacker going to church. As people say, a bet is a bet my friend. I remember just a few weeks ago on ESPN when Hugh Douglas placed that bet, that if Tebow pulled off his magic he would be going to church. He made the bet, he lost the bet and he went to church. It’s time to step up Slacker.
Funny how God gets your attention sometimes, huh?! I say go to church, but find one that accepts you as you are. That's what every church should be anyhow! We're all failures in some way, but most of those who attend church are usually trying to find out what God has for them and what His plan is for their life.
I say give it a try. I've heard good things about Denver United...and no, I don't go there. They've only been around a few years, but seem like the kind of place that would welcome you (and anyone) with open arms.
Grace or Flatiorns
Slacker, as a christian i want you to know that i would love to see you at church on sunday no matter what or why you are there. There are two amazing churches in colorado that i have attended that dont pass judgement and welcome anyone with open arms. the first is flatirons church and the other is grace church of arvada. the people there are real and wont condemn you because we are all sinners and are no better than anyone. be a good example to your kids that you made a deal and you need to follow through. God bless.

Go to Flatirons
Slacker, Go to church. First - a bet is a bet. Second - true Christians will welcome you with open arms - no matter why you are at church. I go to Flatrons in Lafayette. I hope you will join us this Sunday. It is an amazing church - does not pass judgement, great messages relevant to "real" people today, and amazing music. Our motto - "ME TOO" - meaning we have all messed up and will continue to mess up that's why we all need a loving and forgiving God in our lives. Our pastor refers to us as the "church of misfit toys"
- where everyone is welcome - believers and non-believer - no matter what your past or present issues. Our hope is that you hear something that brings you back and that your visit is a chance for you bump into the love of God. As you said on the radio - maybe you made the bet as an inner wish to step back in church - maybe this is YOUR chance to bump into God. Church is at 9:00 and 10:45 on Sunday morning or 5:00 and 6:45 on Saturday evening. Hope to see you there!!!!
