Today's OPP has decided to cut something out of her life. She thinks it's for the better, but none of her friends are supporting her decision.
Yi! I've come to the realization that I've spent way too much of my life drinking and partying. I've done some things I'm not super proud of and feel bad about the fact that I used to drink so much that I would black out. I've decided to turn my life around and swear off drinking cold turkey. But the problem is that my best friends don't seem to respect my choice. They still try to get me to drink with them and accuse me of thinking I'm better than them when I turn down their offer to go out for drinks. How do I get them to respect my choice? Or do I need to go cold turkey on them too?
Slacker gives the example: if there is a group of people who are overweight and you guys go out to dinner, you tell them you are watching your calorie count, and then all of a sudden here comes the Krispy Kreme! Not being supportive is complete sabotage. Is Amanda surrounded by bad friends or does she really even have a problem he wonders.
Steve says these are your best friends; you need to stick with the peer pressure! Steve is being the good friend by trying to continue something you want to quit. By stopping drinking, she is basically silently saying that her friends all have a problem and needs to stop drinking with her.
