OPP: Still Smoking

Heidi joined us live on the air today to discuss her problem. She and her husband made a pack to quit smoking and he’s been doing great at it. In fact, he’s so serious about it that when she got caught by him, he made it very clear that if she was caught again it would be like she’s cheating. Well, it has happened again. She fell off the wagon and she knows she can’t tell him so she’s been carrying around extra clothes, spray for her hair and other things to help decrease the smell of smoke. She’s taken so many pre-caution steps, but the more she smokes, the more she realizes how upset he would be and the guilt continues to grow. Slacker had a question for Heidi…”How can you love that nasty thing that you know is killing you, more than your husband?” Heidi calls it an addiction. She doesn’t want to love it, she loves her husband, but she can’t stop. She’s so stressed out all the time she needs that one moment of bliss. Slacker wanted to know if she also cries while she is smoking because he would feel so horrible. He would feel so much guilt for still smoking.
So, how does Heidi quit? Does she need to come clean to her husband?
Do you know someone that was a secret smoker? Were you?
Man, I don’t know what to tell Heidi. Like Slacker, I have never touched a drug or smoked a cigarette in my life, so I don’t know how her husband would react in this situation. I assume it wouldn’t be the end of the world and he wouldn’t call her a cheater, but rather he would just get upset and watch out for her more. Almost like she had a leash, but I don’t think that would be a bad thing either because maybe it’ll be more motivation and support to help Heidi quit for good. What advice do you have for Heidi?

I can help you Heidi- don't give up or feel discouraged!
I offer EFT (emotional freedom technique). It is amazing for addictions and all the underlying fears, anxiety, guilt, shame and self-sabotage that may come about when trying to quit smoking. When she releases the emotional and mental attachments to her habit, she will most likely be able to choose to quit for good and feel great!
