Candy has a problem:
“Yi guys. My brother and his wife had a baby and this little girl has all of our family talking behind each other’s backs. When my brother called to say my SIL was going into labor we all rushed to the hospital to greet my niece into the world. The second my brother brought her out we realized something was strange. She is black—my brother and SIL are white. No one asked questions then because my brother was so happy. Since then, all he does is beam with pride for his little girl. It’s like he is totally oblivious to the situation and none of us want to be the first to bring it up! What do we do? We don’t know what to say when extended family brings it up. Should we ask him about it just to make sure he knows his wife clearly cheated on him? Should we wait until he brings up the situation? Please help!
Slacker and Steve both agree that there is no way this guy is oblivious! But why would this guy not acknowledge the situation with his family! Family is supposed to be able to talk about anything, which leads Slacker to believe that maybe the SIL didn’t say anything to her husband! But at the end of the day, they have a healthy baby girl who, clearly, has two loving parents! Isn’t that enough??
What should Candy do? What would you do in this situation?
