Today’s OPP comes from Melissa:
Yi! My best friend is getting married this spring for the second time. She absolutely loves the dress she wore for her first wedding and wants to wear it again! She says re-wearing the dress will also save them money since they are paying for the wedding themselves. She didn't tell her fiancé and she doesn't want him to know. I am the only person that knows that she plans to wear the dress again, and I don’t think it’s a good idea. I feel like they’ll be starting their life together with a lie and I want to tell the groom. Should I mind my own business? As guys, would you be upset if you found out your bride wore a dress from her previous marriage?
Steve knows women will scour the solar system to find the perfect wedding dress and there’s only one! So, don’t blame the dress or the flowers, blame the guy she was with. However Slacker can’t help but feel like the dress would be tainted. It would make him feel weird, upset, and think it’s bad karma. In most cases, Slacker thinks you can recycle clothes, but not in this case. He wants to take his wife over the threshold to consummate the marriage without thinking some guy already had her in the dress.
I think Melissa needs to have another serious talk with her best friend. Obviously, I wouldn’t go straight to the fiancé and risk the friendship, but I would explain to her what you think and why. At that point, at least you can say you tried.
What do you think Melissa should do?
