Shelly has been dating an amazing guy named Andrew for 3 years now and she’s ready to get married. She thought he would propose on Christmas, but nothing. New Years, nothing… Valentine’s Day, nothing… So her friends have mentioned to her a recipe otherwise known as the engagement chicken. Since she’s not entirely sure what to do, she is thinking of trying it out… Do you think she should? Could this recipe work? Have you tried this chicken recipe? Are there any other old wise tales that could help push him in the engagement direction?
Slacker wonders if she at the point where she needs to force the situation? He asked her if she had a deadline and she said if she wasn’t engaged by the end of the year, she would leave him, but should she ask him sooner if it’s not happening? Does she need to give him the ultimatum?
I say you might as well go for it and try the chicken recipe. Maybe it will show him you can cook something special, like a wife would for her husband. Maybe he needs to see she is not just a girlfriend, but someone that can also be a motherly figure. If he see’s all these things then he might see you are ready to handle the idea of a family. I’m not remotely ready for marriage, but I kind of want to try this recipe out myself…
In case you want to try it out, here’s the recipe:
- 1 whole chicken (approximately 4 pounds)
- 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice, plus 3 whole lemons—including 1 sliced for garnish
- 1 tablespoon kosher or coarse sea salt
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
- Fresh herbs for garnish (4 rosemary sprigs, 4 sage sprigs, 8 thyme sprigs, and 1 bunch fl at-leaf parsley)
