OPP: Daughter's Skimpy Clothes
Today’s OPP comes From Anna:
My ex and I are quietly battling over our 11 year old daughter's summer wardrobe. He took her shopping for clothes on Tuesday and bought her several low-cut tops that show off her ever-expanding chest. I told him not to buy the clothes, but he did anyways. I think 11 is too young to be wearing low cut tops because they will draw unwanted attention and negative comments. My ex says my daughter should be wearing low cut tops because it will boost her confidence, self esteem and give her a positive self image. Who's right - me or my ex?
Slacker wants to know when is too young, too young? Steve thinks the dad is either being dumb or maybe getting back as his ex wife. Slacker says you want to build your kids self esteem without flaunting them negatively.
I think Anna is right. I think 11 years old is too young to wear low tops. While I think it is important to build the girls self esteem and confidence, I don’t think her showing off her chest is the best way to do it. It is important to teacher her to dress appropriately, and teach her what really is important. Too many girls are dressing inappropriate at a young age and that is just not right.
Who do you think has their daughter’s best intentions in mind?
