OPP: Boss And Domestic Violence

Today, Tori joined us on the air to discuss her OPP…
She has worked with her boss for a couple years now and watched him go through a divorce about a year ago and several relationships since then. She heard through the grape vine he was hitting his wife which is why his marriage ended and he hit the other women he was with, as well. Slacker was wondering why his wife never came clean, but Tori also heard he paid off a woman after his wife to keep her from telling the truth, so it’s possible he paid off his wife in some sort of fashion, too. Just the other night they had a company dinner where she met her boss’ new girlfriend. While talking to her, she couldn’t help but think if she should warn this woman about his behavior. Clearly, this is an ongoing problem for her boss, but she doesn’t know how to tell the woman or if she should and if it gets back to him, she could lose her job. How does she approach all this without ruining her career? Should she tell his new girlfriend?
Slacker and Steve both agree you never hit a woman. It makes them both so upset to even hear about this happening…
For Steve, he loves where Tori’s heart is at, but he thinks this could turn on her quickly and come back to haunt her and he doesn’t want that for her. Slacker doesn’t think a man can change after he’s hit a woman. He thinks a lot of women will think they will be the one he doesn’t do that too, but he doesn’t believe that. He’s never seen that in his personal life. Slacker thinks some guys are such charmers and set the hook so deep that a woman can fall right into that trap, so that when the other shoe drops and they can’t believe it, they try to convince themselves it’s not happening and forgive him. It’s not good…
What advice do you have for Tori?
It worries me that she’s heard only rumors, but I do think there is a smart way to go about this. Unfortunately, I don’t know the best way to go about it, but I can only assume it’s through HR somehow… I could be totally wrong, but abuse is never something to take lightly, no matter the case.
