Letting Your Kids Win

Slacker's kids are still young and get frustrated when they don't win games. An example: Slacker's 5-year-old son, Noah, is working on grouping numbers in school. One of his homework assignments is to practice by playing Go Fish with his parents. He doesn't fully understand the concept and hates playing because he never wins. On the other hand, Slacker's wife will totally lie down and let Noah win every time they play dominos.

Now, Slacker is torn. He says that kids are fragile and constantly beating them at games will turn them off to competition, but letting them win at everything doesn't teach them that they will not always finish in first. Steve says that no matter what age, kids need to learn to lose. In the real world there are winners and losers and kids today don't understand that.

What do you think? Should you always let your kids win? Is it important to teach them how to lose, and at what age does that become important?
