Have you ever had that moment where you lost something, turned around seconds later and thought it was gone forever? I have too, but three people’s stories actually became newsworthy.
Like in Tennessee... A Jack Russell terrier named Petey is finally on his way back home after being missing since July, when he managed to travel 500 miles away from home to a backyard in Michigan. The dog was found in a Detroit suburb and brought to a local Humane Society when they discovered his microchip matching him to his owner in Tennessee.
In Chicago, a family thought their brother was one of the eight unidentified victims from a serial killer named John Wayne Gacy. Turns out he was just living in Florida the whole time. Back in 1977, Gacy was going around pretending to be a contractor and luring people in offering them jobs, which is how he killed them. That was right around the time when the family’s brother went missing and he, himself was looking for construction work.
Finally, a cat that has been lost for two months has been found after falling from a ceiling tile in a customs room at JFK Airport for American Airlines. The cat was suppose to travel with his owner and another cat to San Francisco when he went missing in the baggage center. American Airlines has promised to return the cat to California and reunite it with its owner.
Like I said above, I always have that feeling where I think something I misplaced is gone forever. Especially, when it comes to my phone. I freak out half the time. Sometimes, it’s just an intern or our Producer Dave, that decides to hide my phone in the ceiling tile. Those moments are not the biggest though… When my grandfather passed away, I went to Ohio for his funeral and there I was given a $1,000 check by my grandmother. She told me to hold onto it for dear life. When I returned to Colorado and went to deposit the check, I couldn’t find it! I don’t know what I did or where to search because it’s not like I could just up and fly back to Ohio. So, I searched and search, and nothing! I thought it was gone forever! However, six months later I was cleaning out my room and I picked up a calendar. When I picked it up, out fell the check! I don’t know what was going through my mind to hid it there, but either way it was found, I kissed the check, and deposited it safe and sound.
What did you lose that you thought was gone forever?
