In Texas, a marketing stunt was put on by a company called the Homeless Hotspots at the South by Southwest music conference where homeless people were turned into walking internet hotspots. Homeless people basically stood next to conference goers with a MiFi device to help them connect to the internet via 4G for a price of $2 for every 15 minutes. All the profits went to the homeless, but some people found that dehumanizing and shameful. The company that put on the trial said it’s a, "Very good for the homeless people we're trying to help." What do you think? Do you think this is a good idea or a bad idea?
Steve doesn’t see a downside in this. Slacker can see where people are getting mad. Say you haven’t had relations in forever… two years! Say somebody under your normal league wanted to sleep with you… Would you take that person up on their option? She is taking advantage of the known dry spell. You wouldn’t normally be with someone like this but you are in such dire straights that you actually might pull the trigger and Slacker thinks that’s what makes people mad about this situation.
I think if someone is homeless and wants to put on a shirt that says they are a 4G hotspot and find a way to get them to get their feet on the ground, then why not?
If it is explotation to ask homeless to do this job. Would it also be explotation that persons with a degree Bachlors or Maters that has been unemployeed with the poor economy to take a job as a casher in retail just so that they can pay bills?
