Great Mate Debate: Survival Vs. Christmas

Yi!!

Today, Paul and Kristy are in a bit of a debate. In short, it’s survival vs. Christmas.

Paul wants to prepare for a possible end of the world disaster and he doesn’t think there is anything outlandish about it. There have been floods in New York, more and more tsunamis, and even volcanoes are erupting. He just wants to prepare with some extra food like bags of rice to keep in the basement, iodine tablets, and so forth. So… He wants to scale back on Christmas this year. He says he’s just looking out for his two boys and making sure his family will be safe and ready to go.

Although Kristy has accommodated by budgeting for Christmas a little, Paul keeps asking for a little bit more. For Christmas, he asked for a gas mask. To Kristy, to scale back is just cutting into the gifts for their two boys and with a ten year old, the toys get a little pricier. She thinks he’s been going paranoid since last year when everyone started talking about the end of the world in 2012 and he needs to calm down because he was not like this before.

Steve can see where Paul is coming from because it’s good to be prepared, but like Slacker said, why does it have to be right now?

Slacker thinks Paul’s words are sane, but tone makes him seem a little crazy. In all honesty, how many of us would really be ok if a disaster was to happen? Unfortunately for Slacker and his wife, they are the type of people that go to the grocery a few times a week just to grab a few things here and there. If something bad was to happen, they wouldn’t have any food to last them a week, let alone a month.

Personally, I freak out about the end of the world from time to time, but I haven’t done anything to prepare for it. I figured if it didn’t happen the first time everyone thought it was going to, why would it happen the next time? I don’t think you will know when it’s the end of the world, when it does, I don’t think there will be any survivors so I say live up Christmas and enjoy your time with your family. I have to side with Kristy even if I do think Paul does have a good heart trying to look out for his family.

Whose side are you on?
