"Blossom" star Mayim Bialik has written a book called, Beyond The Sling: A Real-Life Guide To Raising Confident, Loving Children The Attachment Parenting Way, and in the book she has admitted she still breastfeeds her three and a half-year-old son and lets her six-year-old sleep on two mattresses in their bedroom every night. She also says her family lives in a one bedroom house and there’s no playroom because they don’t believe in giving their kids expensive toys.
Slacker was completely creeped out by the breastfeeding. He thinks she should have stopped a long time ago, right around the time they were growing teeth. Slacker’s wife stopped breastfeeding Mia when she was around eight or nine months because she had her bottom teeth.
I have to agree with Slacker. I think breastfeeding needs to stop once a child is starting to develop teeth and when they are no longer getting the nutrition they need.
At what age do you think breastfeeding should stop? What do you think about Mayim Bialik’s other parenting skills?
Actually breastfeeding continues to provide immense nutrition and protection against many illnesses and diseases long after a baby sprouts teeth. Women who breastfeed tend to have smarter kids, lower risk of several types of cancers, lower risk of diabetes amongst their children and miss work less as their children tend to get sick less often. And this is even for kids over 1 year old as the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends if not beyond. We just don't get the facts because this society would rather see a woman's boobs falling out of her shirt to entice a man to buy a car rather than for their real purpose.
