It has been approved for use, however, pills will cost £23 for a month's supply and will not be available on the NHS. The drug stops hair loss in eight out of ten men. Users run a small risk of temporary impotence and lowered sexual drive but the libido returns once the treatment ends.

Propecia has been available in the U.S. since 1998 and is taken by 800,000 men in 38 countries. They take the octagonal pill once a day over a three to six month-period.
