A new article says it is now acceptable to break up via text! We’re still not sure about it and it got us thinking…what was the bad way you were broken up with or dumped someone?
Breaking up is always hard to do, and perhaps the most despicable and heartless way to say adieu is by text message. But if you're too anxious (read: cowardly) to meet your (former) love in person to say the heartbreaking words that must be said, it's probably better to do it by text than voice mail. And you're not alone. One in 10 of us breaks up this way, The Daily Mail reports of a survey conducted by Recombu.com. Why? It's a good way to avoid confrontation. Even the rich and famous like Jennifer Aniston and Britney Spears texted their men that it's over!
Slacker finds that breaking up over text is completely rude. Although, if you ask out over text, it's okay to break up over text. Steve has no problem with breaking up in general. Heck, he just saves different texts and fills in the name later.
Personally, I'm against breaking up this way. Especially since the breakup will be bad regardless, but in person makes it a little better...right? At least I can show the other girl I'm not a complete jerk. Plus, it won't lead to her going all Carrie Underwood on my car (hopefully).
