Back-Up Plan Vending Machines

Yi!!

Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania has announced they will be providing a vending machine filled with “morning after” pills for female girls 17 and older for $25. The machine is only accessible to students and is located in a private room inside their healthcare center. The student must first proceed to check-in at the desk in the lobby and once their through they can access the machine. What is this saying though? Is it giving permission to girls to have unsafe relations because they have a fail safe on campus? Is it a bad idea to have it or a good idea?

In most cases, you have to approach a pharmacist and ask them for the morning after pill and show them an ID before they sell you the pill. If Slacker was a young woman thinking about being promiscuous and knows she has to walk up to a pharmacist and ask for the pill, he would be embarrassed. To know that you have to face a pharmacist and the fact that he doesn’t like to face authority, would be enough for him to say no to relations but if he has to just stick money into a vending machine, it’s not that much of a deterrent for him. Steve would just hang out by the machine and ask every girl for their name…

My friend in college needed the morning after pill quite a few times and it was always a hassle to go out to a pharmacy and it even got embarrassing for her that she always had to go back. I mean, it’s not something you really want to do have to go do… I say the vending machine is a pretty good idea, especially since it’s in their healthcare center.
