A 64-year-old Florida woman swam from Havana, Cuba to Key West, Florida.
It was the Diana Nyad's fifth try and she made the swim in 53 hours. She started the swim Saturday morning and made it to Key West on Monday afternoon.
She wore a protective mask to keep jellyfish from stinging her tongue-- which was a problem in other attempts. (She stopped only to eat a few times.)
Nyad tried the swim in August of 2012 but had to stop because of storms.
She averaged swimming 2.2 miles per hour.
