Yi!
Her son's only 9 and she saw a text message he recently got from a girl. Last tuesday, she got this random text message asking if she was riding the bus tomorrow. She said that she was asking for his son and she gave her his emergency cell number. She went to send him a message and accidentally sent her another message. She was calling her son baby and sent him a picture of cartoon characters in a pretty intense embrace. She talked to him about it and he said he loves her. He said he wants to spend the rest of his life with her because he likes her and she's really smart--they do hold hands on the bus.
Steve thinks that this has been going on for a while and it's going to keep happening. He thinks she's just going to hate any little girl that comes near her son. Slacker gets what her son is going through--he doesn't understand love yet, though. Girls develop faster too, and she may get it already while he doesn't. Neither of them know what she should really do yet though.
I think this is just adorable. I don't think she should let him text the girl or anything since his phone is just for emergencies and I definitely agree with that. Little kids get huge crushes like this. It just happens. If I were a mom, I'd probably be freaking out too, but looking back at how I was when I was that young I remember having huge crushes like that. I didn't go out on a limb and think it's love or anything, but I'd pretty much be drawing little hearts all over my journal with these little boy's names all over them. It's a phase that little kids go through. If it were me, I'd just make sure to talk with my son all about the birds and the bees as soon as I can. At this age he'll probably just be grossed out by that anyway, but at least he's educated!
What do you think she should do?
Until Next Time, xoxo--Intern Elizabeth
